MEDIEVAL ASTI MONFERRATO AND ITS PALIO

8:30 AM – Departure from Turin
Arrival in Vezzolano for a guided tour.
One of the historic gems of Piedmont, the Abbey of Santa Maria di Vezzolano welcomes visitors with its architectural balance and the delicacy of its medieval frescoes.
The cloister, the carved rood screen, and the intimate atmosphere make this visit a rare and evocative experience.
11:30 AM – Transfer to Valmera
Transfer to Valmanera for lunch at a farmhouse, nestled in the quiet of the Asti countryside.
1:30 PM – Transfer to Asti
Transfer to Asti for the Palio, where the city comes alive and you can watch the historical parade at 2:00 PM.
An impressive procession, consisting of hundreds of participants in period costume, passes through the city center, evoking medieval life in Asti. A living tale of solemn gestures, precious costumes, and centuries-old traditions.
4:30 PM – Palio Trials
At the racecourse, you can watch the official trials of the horses and jockeys. A moment filled with tension and ritual, a foretaste of Italy’s oldest competition.
Free time in the city for a leisurely stroll among medieval towers, elegant squares, and architectural highlights that tell the story of Asti’s noble history.
6:00 PM – Departure for the return journey to Turin
Individual participation fee of €69.00 (minimum 40 paying guests) includes:
- Transportation by GT coach.
- Guided tour of Vezzolano and introduction to the Palio.
- Traditional three-course lunch at a farmhouse. Water, wine, and coffee included.
